Frozen 2

Can I just say WOW! I loved the movie. It was very different and much darker than the first but I thought it was great! I love the songs, the dresses, the story!

I’ve seen mixed comments about it, some loved it and some not so much. I feel like with Disney remakes and sequels, you have to go into it with an open mind. It’s hard to match a Disney original, even for Disney.

Now, that being said, the sequel to the all magical Frozen is very different. It delves into the story behind Elsa’s powers, but there’s more to the movie, I think, then the obvious.

One lesson of course is the unconditional love they have for each other. Family is important, nothing matters more. There’s much more to the movie though.

Sometimes you have to take a different path than those you love to discover who you are, what you can do and who you are meant to be. We can’t all do the same thing, we have separate talents and skills. We are all unique and should pursue those talents to mold our future.

Another lesson I feel like Disney is portraying in many of it’s princesses is their independence and strength; i.e. Moana, Tiana. There’s a point where Kristoff rides in on Sven and saves Anna, but instead of being the hero of the day and swooping in with his masculinity, he says “I’m here, what do you need?” That shows great respect for his love for Anna and his belief in her. Later she apologizes for taking off, but he says “It’s ok, my love is not fragile.” Is he the ideal prince or what?! His love for Anna and acceptance of her will and what she is capable of is incredible. I think Lost in the Woods is my new favorite song đŸ™‚

There’s still more!

At one point in the movie, Anna falls into deep despair. But she realizes that she must go on and do “the next right thing” by taking one step at a time. What a lesson for kids today! With the fast paced world and everything being at your fingertips, sometimes you need to slow down and take just one step at a time. I love this. There’s so much depression and anxiety amongst youth today. It’s refreshing to reiterate the importance of taking things slower sometimes.

Olaf talks abut growing up, things changing and maturity. He struggles with the emotions and tries to find ways to work through it. I feel like the movie was meant to grow with all the kids that fell in love with Anna and Elsa in the beginning. Anna even references “6 years ago.” While it was more a story about Elsa’s powers and their parents, the subtle changes in the characters shows growth and time passing, how they had to deal with those changes and relying on each other to get through it; but also following the road they were meant to take.
